Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi is an exemplary guru, besides being in the forefront of the professional performing league of artistes in Carnatic Music, the world over.
She has taken upon herself the arduous, yet devoted mission of passing on the intricacies of the illustrious Lalgudi bani to the future generations of young musicians. She imparts one-to-one vocal and violin lessons to young and aspiring students from India and other countries of the world, who are dedicated to the cause of pursuing Carnatic music at an advanced level. Being an extremely quality-conscious guru, sensitive to detail, she is only able to mentor a limited number of hard-working students. Some of her students have already had their arangetrams, and are currently performing full-fledged stage concerts. Others have made commendable accomplishments in various esteemed organizations world over, winning competitions at multiple levels and categories.
Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi is fondly known as Viji aunty to her students. She shares an affectionate connection with all of her disciples, while navigating them through their intense journeys.
Her musical lineage, expertise and experience in the field of Carnatic music as a violinist, vocalist and composer, have made her a much sought-after professional for informational lec-dems and workshops, wherever she tours for her concerts. In these interactive sessions, she carries forward her mission of passing on the compositions of her guru and father, Sri. Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, to musicians and enthusiasts all over the world. She also imparts expert advice and guidance on practising and applying manodharma techniques in advanced vocal and instrumental music.
